The publisher

I am Erik Vlietinck, a 51 years old Flemish Ll.D. I have been a freelance technology editor for over 20 years. I was a freelance contributor to IT Week, Datanews, Publish, MacWorld, Computer Arts, Computable, Windows NT Magazine, New Media Age, and many others across Europe.

I have also worked as an independent consultant for companies such as HP, Ricoh Europe, FileNet, CSC, Documentum, WoodWing, Vjoon, etc.

I am a lawyer by education, specialised in European intellectual property and ICT contract law. I also held a position as a law professor at Vlekho (Brussels based university) for the best part of 4 years. In the late nineties of the past century I expanded beyond the legal column I then wrote for a Belgian ICT magazine into a full time freelance ICT trade writing career.

Over the years, I got involved in advising companies on content and publishing strategies. Except for my general ICT knowledge, I have a lot of experience with testing and reviewing desktop and enterprise software applications and hardware in publishing environments, as well as with testing photography and video production equipment.

Finally, I used to be involved with printing and colour management a lot, but with the rise of digital printing technologies, that involvement has become less over the years.
